The High School East and West Music Departments ended the school year with their
annual Jazz Dinner at Napper Tandy’s in Smithtown, hosted by the Friends of Music of Smithtown booster organization!
The HSE Jazz Ensemble (Mrs. Jen Leavy), HSW Jazz Ensemble (Mr. Frank Scheno), and HSW Jazz Choir (Mr. James Brosnan) spent the evening entertaining an incredible crowd of family and friends! Each ensemble performed two sets. The Friends of Music of Smithtown members put 野花社区视频 a large number of raffle baskets with items donated by local businesses and supportive community members.
Along with many Jazz standards performed by the three larger ensembles, The HSE Clarinet Quintet performed the premiere of “Duckin’ Dance,” a piece written by senior Carter Lam, and the HSE Jazz Ensemble performed “Sharpshooter,” a composition by senior Anagh Gupta. The evening ended with a combined performance of East & West’s Jazz Ensemble’s playing a lively New Orleans style Jazz piece, “Canal Street Commotion,” by Mike Carubia. “It is always a joy to watch the students support one another at this event. It is such a fun night, and a really great way to celebrate a year of hard work and musical growth!” shared Mrs. Leavy.
